Pierce’s dedication to public service is deeply personal. He lives with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), a rare neurological condition similar to multiple sclerosis that affects mobility and endurance. Although he was formally diagnosed in 2018, he began experiencing symptoms as early as 1997.

That experience shaped his outlook on life and service. As a teenager, he volunteered with the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, initially hoping to pursue a career in medicine. While working behind the scenes in administrative roles, he discovered a passion for accounting—realizing that strong financial stewardship is essential to helping organizations serve people effectively.

Witnessing patients facing far greater challenges than his own instilled in Pierce a lifelong commitment: to give back, to serve others, and to make a meaningful impact in his community for as long as he is able.
